Physics Tutors

Our physics tutors help Portland high school students learn the fundamentals of equations. We teach students a solid conceptual understanding of the law of physics, as well as how to complete practice problems, and ace school and standardized exams.

Physics is one of the hardest subjects to learn. It’s different from biology and chemistry because it focuses on mechanics, the structure of atoms, sound, and electricity. High school physics tends to be focused on topics such as waves, sound, and The Doppler Effect. Our founder, Eric Earle, took a physics class in college, just to challenge himself. It was hard. He would focus with all of his concentration in class, take notes diligently, and even meet with the professor weekly after class for more help. But this wasn’t enough. Then he called Austin (one of our top tutors at Tutor Portland). Austin is a mechanical engineering major who understands how to explain tough concepts in a simple, down-to-earth way. Within days Eric was feeling more confident. In just weeks his grades were climbing.

At Tutor Portland, we understand the power of tutoring.

Physics (click this link for online help with physics) is a special subject because it’s the study of the laws that govern the world around us. Yes, it’s one of the hardest sciences. And many kids don’t like it. And they don’t like it for exactly that reason: it’s hard and they don’t understand it. The right coaching, the right tutoring, can put a student on a path towards life long learning and understanding. Once a student gets the hang of a subject, there’s a visible shift that happens inside of them (reflected as an outer, physical shift in their body posture). As tutors, we live for those moments: when we see the light (and a student’s interest) turn on.
